Lake Murray State Park
Welcome to Lake Murray State Park! This is the first and largest state park in Oklahoma. Lake Murray is entirely surrounded by Lake Murray State Park. There is one scenic highway (77S) that runs around the entire park. You can use the scenic highway to get to all of the areas, campgrounds, beaches, and more within Lake Murray State Park.
Lake Murray State Park covers a massive 12,500 acres almost half of which is the lake itself. The remainder are the scenic surrounding areas including parks, beaches, hiking trails, campgrounds, an ATV/motorcycle area, 18-hole golf course, cabins, boat ramps and more.

You should always contact the park directly before driving long distances to check camping availability.
Please be aware there are daily parking fees now required throughout Lake Murray State Park. These fees start at $10 per vehicle per day. You can find more information on the parking fees on the TravelOK.com website.
The new Lake Murray Lodge features 32 spacious rooms, waterfront restaurant that looks out over the lake, ballroom, and meeting rooms.
Below we will detail most of the park areas within the state park. We will have a separate page on campgrounds, beaches, and the golf course.

Pecan Grove
Starting at the northern most park area in Lake Murray State Park, Pecan Grove is a fairly small picnic area. The little park includes about 10 or so picnic tables and a playground set in an open pecan grove. There is also a trailhead here for the Anadarche Trail.

Duke’s Forest Campground
Just south of Pecan Grove along the scenic highway 77S is Duke’s Forest Campground. This is one of the smaller and less trafficked campgrounds in Lake Murray State Park. Both tent camping and RV camping are available in Duke’s Forest Campground. Due to the low traffic, this campground is often closed during the winter season. Group camping is available for both RVs and tents.

Elephant Rock, Cedar Cove, and Tipps Point Campgrounds
Elephant Rock, Cedar Cove, and Tipps Point Campgrounds are all accessed through the same entrance. This entrance is located along the scenic highway 77S just south of Duke’s Forest and just north of the main park entrance and state park office. Both day-use and overnight camping are available in this area. There is a swim beach and picnic area that visitors can use during the day.
The entrance to these campgrounds is the only pay entrance that we know of in the state park. Each vehicle must pay $5 for entrance into these campgrounds. (This is the current price, but is subject to change. Please check with park officials for all official pricing). The entrance for pedestrians and bicyclists is $0.50. We will detail each of these campgrounds below.

Tipps Point Campground
Tipps Point is a beautiful campground for both tents and RVs. Many of the campsites have wonderful views of Lake Murray.

Elephant Rock Campground is named after a huge rock that sits off the main lake point in this area. This is mostly an RV camping area, but also includes a beach area and boat ramp.

Cedar Cove Campgrounds are a nice RV camping area with nice views of the lake.

Lake Murray Lodge and Cabins
The Lake Murray Lodge and Cabins area is the main entrance area of the park and is home to the park office. This area holds the park lodge, cabins, floating cabins, Lake Murray Water Sports, beach area, tennis court, hiking trails, and more. We detail all of this area on its own on the lodge and cabins page.

Marina and Beach Area
The Marina and Beach area is one of the main parts of the lake. This is the main marina on the lake for boat storage and facilities. This area holds the nicest beach on the lake as well. The marina includes a ship store and scuba diving shop. We have a separate page that details the Lake Murray Marina.
Buzzard’s Roost Campgrounds
The Buzzard’s Roost Campgrounds are one of the nicest campgrounds on the lake. These campgrounds are located just south of the main entrance to the state park and the state park office along the scenic highway 77S. In these campgrounds you will find both RV camping and tent camping. Most of the campsites have captivating views of Lake Murray, the marina, and Tucker Tower which overlooks the lake.
This is a popular camping area and is our favorite campground on the lake. There are 30+ RV sites here and over 50 tent campsites.

Ski Jump Campground
The Ski Jump Campground is one of the smallest campgrounds on the lake. There are 10 or so campsites here overlooking a cove on Lake Murray. These campsites are called “unimproved campsites” since there is little more than a picnic table and fire ring at each site. There are some outdoor vault toilets available in this area.

Marietta Landing Campground
The is the southern most campground on the lake. The Marietta Landing Campground is pretty small with just 30 primitive campsites and 27 semi-modern RV sites. This campground is located near the dam.

Rock Tower Campground
Rock Tower Campground is a beautiful campground with mature trees and more spacious campsites. If you are looking for something a little more out of the way, this is a great campground. The campground gets its name from the historic Rock Tower that was built in the 1930’s. Both tent camping and RV camping are available here.

Martins Landing Campground
Martins Landing Campground is a very nice campground on the west side of Lake Murray. Almost all of the campsites have great views of the lake. There is a very nice swim beach within this campground.

Sunset Beach
Sunset Beach is a beautiful day-use area with one of the nicest beaches on the lake. This day-use area has no fee to enter and is great for families. There are picnic areas and restrooms within this part of the park.
The beach stretches for almost one-quarter mile. This is a wonderful part of the state park.
That wraps up most of the major portions of Lake Murray State Park. Of course we did not get to the Nature Center or Golf Course or trails or many of the other fun things to do, but we will cover those on other pages. Have fun and enjoy Lake Murray State Park!
